10 Traits of Women Ruling the Corporate Sector

From Irene Rosenfeld, the Chief executive officer of Kraft Foods to Brenda Barnes, the Chief Operating Officer of Sara Lee, women have proved their worth in the corporate sector. Women have in fact given a befitting reply to the misogynistic thoughts which believe that leadership positions in the corporate sector and men go hand in hand.

Despite the challenges they faced, being a woman has not stopped these women or altered their chances for success. Being a successful woman all in all comes down to being fiercely determined to succeed, be independent and have confidence in the skills they possess.

If you are a woman who wishes to kick start your very own business, or aspires to go up the corporate ladder, you should have the following ten traits for flourishing in the corporate sector:

Confidence:

Being confident in what you do is extremely important when it comes to dealing with clients. Confidence is the secret ingredient which helps these business women win over their clients. Being confident also gains the respect of people, builds the clients trust in you and helps you build an exceptionally successful business

Determination:

When we look at prosperous women like Oprah Winfrey and Coco Chanel the one thing they have in common is the determination to do something in their life. They had a goal and a purpose in their lives which they set out to achieve. It is the determination to excel in everything you do which helps you achieve all your goals. Believe in yourself and believe that what you are doing is actually going to make a difference in the world.

Ambition:

All successful women in the world have a strong sense of ambition. They never settle for anything that is second to the goal they are aiming for. They push forward and aspire for the very best in life. There is nothing that stops them from aiming for the top, and this strong sense of ambition is what helps them achieve their goals in life.

Passion:

Successful business women are conquering the market they are working in as their business revolves around what they are passionate about. Anita Roddick, for example, was very passionate about social and environmental activism and so her company, The Body Shop, was the first to ban animal testing of products. According to Anita, “To succeed you have to believe in something with such a passion that it becomes a reality."

Persistence:

Starting something is easy, but to keep it going is another ball game altogether. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur you must never think about giving up. Persistence is the key to success. There might be days when you would want to give up, but in times like these remind yourself of all the hard work you have put in and keep moving forward.

Self-belief:

Mary Kay Ash, founder of the Mary Kay Cosmetics continued to build her business one month after her husband passed away. She stated, "If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can't, you're right." Self belief is the most important trait of a successful woman. If you yourself don’t believe that you can make it, then you will not conquer much.

Enthusiasm to learn and humility:

You should not depend on the success you have already achieved as the only constant in every industry is change. You should always be open to learning and innovating according to the need of the hour. Women with thriving careers are humble and they do not hesitate to learn from others to polish their skills.

Bravery:

It takes a lot of courage to operate a company, and to cope with all the complexities and challenges involved. To succeed you have to push out of your comfort zone, boost your confidence and be brave to make bold decisions. Take risks; be brave and confident about all your choices!

Assertiveness:

To do well as an entrepreneur you have to be confident, assertive and firm or else your peers and employees will not trust your skills and abilities. As a woman show your assertiveness by being fearless, and speaking with purpose and authority.

Hard Work:

Last, but not the least; nothing is possible without hard work as it is of utmost importance in achieving success. You have to sacrifice your social, family and personal life in order to achieve the goals you have in sight.
